For the more adventurous sightseers, you can drive from San Jose to Puntarenas, where you can take a ferry to Paquera. From Paquera to Tambor, there is a paved road, but from Tambor to Flor Blanca is unpaved. We recommend a four wheel drive utility vehicle for this, and be sure to take enough time to enjoy the scenery and local flavor of the small towns along the way.
